FAQs
  • What accessories do I need to order?
For the configuration and customization of Knox products, the accessories and options you choose will depend on your specific application requirements. For example: the number of keys you intend to store in your Knox Emergency Cabinets, or whether or not you intend to include an alarm tamper switch in your KnoxBox or Emergency Cabinet.
  • What is an Alarm Tamper Alert?
The Alarm Tamper Alert is installed in any Knox key box products (i.e. in KnoxVault, KnoxBox, Knox Document Cabinet, Knox Elevator Box, Knox Remote Power Box, etc.) and connects to the alarm on your building or home. If anyone tampers with the box, the alarm will be activated.
  • What are Recess Mounting Kits for?
Knox offers Recess Mounting Kits for use in new concrete or masonry construction for both KnoxBox 3200 and KnoxVault 4400. Each kit includes a shell housing and mounting hardware to be cast-in-place. The KnoxBox is mounted into the shell housing after construction is completed.
  • What is a multi-purpose switch?
Typically, the multi-purpose switch will be mounted inside a KnoxBox or Knox Emergency Box and can be used to unlock Maglocks, electrical doors, and gates that are controlled by low voltage circuits. Other electrical equipment can also be operated by this switch. Click here for more information.
  • What is a dual lock for?
Dual locks allow shared agency access so first responders can immediately gain access during emergencies. For example, fire departments, law enforcement, and emergency medical services may share access to properties in their local jurisdictions.
